KUALA LUMPUR: Boustead Heavy Industries Corp Bhd (BHIC), the shipbuilder controlled by the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT), has announced sweeping changes in its boardroom.

In a statement today, BHIC said two long-serving directors - Datuk Ishak Osman and Datuk Azzat Kamaludin - have left the company.

They were replaced with six new appointments.

The new non-independent non-executive directors are Admiral (R) Tan Sri Ramlan Mohamed Ali, investment banker Datuk Maznah Abdul Jalil and Fahmy Ismail. Fahmy is the chief operating officer and group finance director of parent company Boustead Holdings Bhd

Meanwhile, the new independent non-executive directors are former judge Tan Sri Wira Aziah Ali, National Audit Department's former audit performance director Saadatul Nafisah Bashir Ahmad and accountant Salihin Abang.

“The group is pleased to introduce greater diversity to its board, not only from a gender perspective, but also from breadth of experience and specialised professional qualifications that these new members bring to the board," BHIC said.

“The group is confident that the high calibre and proven capabilities of its new board members will certainly set the tone towards strengthening BHIC’s prospects moving forward,” it added.
