Trading ideas: Hong Leong Capital, MUI, EITA, Protasco, Sona

KUALA LUMPUR: JF Apex Research expects Malayan United Industries (MUI), EITA, Protasco Group and Sona Petroleum to see trading interest on Wednesday.

Also in focus could be Hong Leong Capital after Bursa Securities  cautioned investors the company had  not resolved the public shareholding spread after the extension given on Sept 3. The deadline is Nov 30.

MUI is in “serious discussions” with a potential party to explore the possibilities of disposing certain substantial assets to realise its value but no certainty to the outcome.

As for EITA, JF Apex Research said the group was awarded a RM79mil contract for the supply and commissioning of escalator and travelator system for all underground stations for the MRT1.

Protasco, the group dipped into the red in its 3Q results with a provision of its investment in PT Anglo Slavic Indonesia. It has two EGMs in three days, with one on Wednesday and the other on Friday.

Sona Petroleum, the group will meet its counterparts from Salamander Energy Plc next week to save its nearly RM1bil deal to buy the British firm’s oil and gas assets offshore Thailand.

Overnight on Wall Street, US stocks finished little changed overnight, with the S&P 500 wavering around its peak, as data had the economy growing more than previously forecast in the third quarter, offsetting an unexpected drop in consumer confidence in November.

At Bursa Malaysia, the FBM KLCI gained 4.79 points to close at 1,838.56.

“We expect the index to consolidate around the support of 1,835,”  it said.
