KUALA LUMPUR: JF Apex Research expects Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd, Telekom Malaysia, Berjaya Corporation, Metronic Global Bhd, Crescendo Corp and Multi-Code Electronics Industries to see trading interest on Wednesday.
It said Hap Seng’s unit Hap Seng Investment Holdings Pte Ltd, has made a cash offer to acquire 51% of Singapore-based Hafary Holdings Ltd for S$52.5mil (RM138.86mil.
Telekom Malaysia secured SKR1M submarine broadband cable contract from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
As for Berjaya Corporation, its 2QFY15 earnings surged to RM153.1mil from RM20.6mil a year ago.
JF Apex Research said Metronic Global will be diversifying into property development, and has proposed to buy 31,934 square metres land in Kuala Krai, Kelantan, for RM9.8mil.
Crescendo Corp’s 3QFY15 earnings fell 61.8% to RM18.07mil on-year.
Multi-Code Electronics reported a net loss of RM1.84mil in 1QFY15 compared to a net profit of RM2.01mil a year ago.
Overnight on Wall Street, US stocks closed down in low volume trade overnight, pressured by weakness abroad and a sharp decline in the utilities sector. Similarly, European shares closed lower as lower oil prices and political uncertainty in Greece weighed on investor sentiment.
At Bursa Malaysia, the FBM KLCI shed 1.58 points to 1766.83. “We expect the index to be flat due to the low volume with possible window dressing,” it said.
