Tong’s Momentum Portfolio - Feb 6, 2015
THE euro slumped late Wednesday after the European Central Bank unexpectedly tightened Greece’s bailout terms, putting pressure on the new Greek government to reform. Elsewhere, the Dow Jones Industrial Average inched 0.04% higher while the S&P500 dipped 0.42%.
Crude oil prices continued to extend losses from the previous day as record high inventories in the United States renewed worries of a supply glut. Brent and WTI crude traded at US$53.63 and US$48.23 per barrel respectively.
Regional shares were mostly lower while the benchmark FBM KLCI remained little changed at 1803.21. Market breadth was slightly negative with losers outnumbering gainers by 1.29 to 1.
As highlighted by The Edge Markets (www.theedgemarkets.com), I bought 21,900 shares of Kanger International Bhd at 45.5 sen per share and 10,500 shares of UMS-Neiken Group Bhd ( Financial Dashboard) at 95 sen per share.
I also disposed of my entire 10,000 shares of ECM Libra Financial Group Bhd ( Financial Dashboard) at RM1.03, yielding a return of 4.0% on the investment.
My portfolio is now 28.5% invested. The portfolio, which restarted on Jan 29, 2015 with a capital of RM100,000, is now up 1.5% to a total value of RM101,491.30. It has outperformed the FBM KLCI by 6.2%.
