KUALA LUMPUR: Ann Joo Resources Bhd's share price rose to RM1.25 on Wednesday, the highest since October 2014, prompting Bursa Malaysia Securities to query the can manufacturer.

At midday, it was up seven sen to RM1.23. There were 2.83 million shares done at prices ranging from RM1.17 to RM1.25.

The FBM KLCI was up 5.73 points or 0.33% to 1,720.73. Turnover was one billion shares valued at RM870.80mil. There were 370 gainers, 324 losers and 376 counters unchanged.

The regulator had queried the company over the unusual market activity (UMA) on the recent rise in price of the shares.

It said investors should take note of the company’s reply to the above UMA query which would be posted at Bursa Malaysia’s website under the company announcement when making their investment decision.

It also directed the company to inquire with the directors, major shareholders and such other relevant persons for the reason of the UMA.
