Pestech and Furukawa Electric bag RM165mil job in Cambodia

KUALA LUMPUR: Pestech International Bhd (PSB) and its consortium partner Furukawa Electric Co Ltd have secured two contracts worth RM165mil in Cambodia.

Pestech said this is the company's first successful venture to export extra high voltage underground cable design and laying capability overseas.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing, Pestech said the consortium was awarded the contract today by Electricite du Cambodge (EDC) of Cambodia for Phnom Penh's transmission and distribution system expansion project phase 2 (I) – package 3, procurement of underground transmission and distribution line works.

The total contract value is 2.22 billion yen (RM85mil) and US$19.94mil (RM80.36mil).

PSB pointed out that this is the first 230kV underground cable work project undertaken by EDC in Cambodia.

"This is also PSB's first successful venture to export extra high voltage underground cable design and laying capability overseas," said the company.
