KUALA LUMPUR (March 12): Investors appear to be selling their holdings in semiconductor companies today, as Covid-19 — which has now been classified as a pandemic – is expected to cause further disruptions to the global supply chain for the industry.

As of 10:46am, shares in Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI), KESM Industries and Pentamaster Corp were among the top 10 biggest losers on Bursa Malaysia today.

MPI was the second top loser on the local bourse today, trading 5.14% or 54 sen lower at RM9.96, on a volume of 12,200 shares.

KESM, the fifth top loser at the time of writing, was trading 4.84% or 40 sen lower at RM7.86 apiece, with some 69,800 of its shares changing hands.

The tenth top loser on Bursa Malaysia was Pentamaster, which was trading 6.19% or 26 sen lower at RM3.94 — with 2.41 million of its shares transacted.

UWC Bhd declined 11.87% or 26 sen to RM1.93, on a volume of 8.86 million shares traded.

Inari Amertron Bhd also declined, falling 5.88% or eight sen to RM1.28, valuing it at some RM4.15 billion. It saw 4.17 million shares traded.

Frontken Corp Bhd was also no exception, falling 6.03% or 12 sen to RM1.87, valuing it at RM1.97 billion. It saw 2.55 million shares traded.

Looking at Bursa’s technology index, which counts semiconductor companies as members, the index declined 4.98% or 1.72 points to 32.82 points.
