KUALA LUMPUR: KERJAYA PROSPEK GROUP BHD has secured a RM617mil contract from Aspen Vision City Sdn Bhd to develop the proposed apartment project in Batu Kawan, Penang.

It said on Monday its unit Kerjaya Prospek (M) Sdn Bhd had accepted a letter of award from Aspen Vision, an indirect subsidiary of Aspen (Group) Holdings Ltd and joint venture between Aspen Group and IKEA Southeast Asia.the proposed apartment project known as “Vivo” and “Viio”.

“This contract win, of RM617mil, itself represents half of Kerjaya’s order book target of RM1.2bil for the whole of FY2019, ” it said in a statement to Bursa Malaysia.

Kerjaya Prospek said the project would be in Aspen Vision City, an intelligent and sustainable metropolis and near the IKEA store.

The project is split into two phases. The first phase “VIVO”, worth RM365mil, entails piling, pile cap works and main building works for the development of 1,530 executive apartments, 14 units of shops, car park podium and common facilities. Construction will take 38 months, starting Feb 14 and slated for completion by April 2023.

Contract value for the second phase “VIIO” worth RM252mil, entails piling, pile cap works and main building works for 980 executive apartments, nine shops, car parking podium and common facilities. It said construction of VIIO was expected to be completed within 36 months.

A signing ceremony was held at the Aspen Vision City Sales Gallery, Batu Kawan. Kerjaya was represented by its executive chairman Datuk Tee Eng Ho, executive director Tee Eng Seng, Aspen (Group) Holdings Ltd by its group managing director Anilarasu Amaranazan. The signing was witnessed by state executive councillor Jagdeep Singh Deo.

“We are off to a great start in 2020. Kerjaya has a long working history with Aspen and is proud to have been awarded this contract by Aspen, a reputable player in the property development industry, for our first contract for this year.

“This (contract) again demonstrates Kerjaya’s growing reputation as a contractor of choice in delivering high quality projects on time without compromising on safety. I am excited for the coming years ahead as we seek to deliver earnings growth with our outstanding order book of approximately RM3.5bil to-date.

“The group will continue to aggressively tender for new works and expect positive outcomes from these tendering activities in due course, ” said Tee Eng Ho.
