Top Glove listed on Dow Jones Sustainability Index for second year

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 23): Top Glove Corp Bhd has been listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) under the Emerging Markets category for the second year in a row.

In a statement today, the world's largest glovemaker said it ranks 13th out of a total of 73 healthcare companies across all DJSI indices, outperforming 83% of its industry peers.

“This is a further improvement over last year’s performance when it was ranked 15th out of 44 healthcare companies across all DJSI indices, outperforming 67% of its industry peers,” said the group, adding that it is the only Malaysian company to be listed on the 2020 DJSI.

The DJSI Emerging Markets Index tracks the sustainability performance of the top 10% largest Emerging Markets companies on the S&P Global Broad Market Index and serves as a key reference point for investors and companies alike.

Top Glove said this is a testament to the company’s good practices in the Economic, Environmental and Social (EES) space.

Additionally, Top Glove said its Factory 29 (F29) has emerged as a winner in the 2020 National Energy Awards (NEA), under Category 1 (Large Industries).

Organised by the Malaysian Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA), the 2020 NEA Awards recognises the efforts of companies in furthering the nation’s progress towards a more sustainable future.

Top Glove said F29 earned its win for its efforts in energy saving, reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, reduction in water usage, its commitment to utility saving initiatives, with good future planning of similar initiatives for the future years and innovative and novel utility saving projects implemented.

The initiatives are also being rolled out across the company’s existing glove factories and will be fully implemented at all new glove factories in future, said Top Glove.

Shares of Top Glove are currently trading two sen or 0.27% higher at RM7.31, for a market capitalisation of RM59.91 billion.
